Minimal PDF 1.0.0

Early access

In testing

The first release. A read-only viewer: it shows PDFs and never writes to them.

  • Continuous pages at fit width, zoom from 10 % to 800 % around the pointer, re-rendered sharp at every step
  • Drag the blank paper to pan, drag the grey to move the window, double-click to maximize
  • Arrow keys page through, Space and Page Down scroll a screen, Home and End jump to the ends
  • A page and zoom badge and a 3-pixel scroll mark that fade out about a second after you stop
  • Tested on 3-, 60- and 500-page files, rotated pages, Unicode file names and broken files
  • Fixed before release: the page badge now fades while you read, password-protected files get the right message, and a quick burst of zooms no longer starts two render loops

Next, later, never.

The roadmap is short on purpose. Anything that would add to the window goes straight to the third column.

  • Highlights. Drag across words and the highlight is saved into the PDF as a standard annotation that Acrobat, Edge and Preview show. The words come from the OCR engine inside Windows, so it works on scans too.
  • Copy the highlighted words with Ctrl+C.
  • Sideways scrolling with a touchpad or tilt wheel.

Later

  • Ctrl+F. Type to find, with the match count in the fading badge and no search box.
  • A build that needs no runtime download, built on the .NET Framework that ships inside Windows.
  • Signed releases, then winget, Scoop and Chocolatey.

Never

  • Toolbars, menus, sidebars or tabs
  • A settings screen or preferences file
  • Accounts, ads, telemetry, crash reports or update pings
  • An AI panel
